International Students
We celebrate a long tradition of international students coming from many countries around the world to attend Hartland College.
International students are welcome to apply for our four-year bachelor programs, and we will process I-20 forms under the authorization of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for qualified applicants who have been accepted.
Applying to Hartland College as an international student
International students are welcome to apply for our four-year bachelor programs, and we will process I-20 forms under the authorization of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for qualified applicants who have been accepted.
Complete an online application and submit all requirements by one of the following methods:
- Upload to the online application.
- Email to the Admissions Department: admissions@hartland.edu.
Official high school and college transcripts should be translated into English if necessary and must be sent directly from student’s school to Hartland College. International students will also need to have their transcripts evaluated by a third-party company. (See the online application for information.)
Submit the nonrefundable application fee ($100 USD) via the link provided in the online application.
Show documented proof of English proficiency:
- Students can submit proof of having completed three years of study in an English-speaking country;
- Graduate from a high school or academy where English is the primary language, or complete a college degree where English is the primary language of instruction;
- Receive an SAT verbal score of 450 or higher, or an ACT reading score of 18 or higher;
- Obtain an official score of 4 or higher on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Language A examination in English.
- Students can also prove their proficiency by achieving minimal scores in the following:
- The International Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Exam
- The GTECH CBT English Test
- The Sakae English Placement Test (SEPT)
- Duolingo English Placement Test
Submit a financial plan on how the student plans to pay for their education, including personal expenses.
Show evidence of ability to pay full tuition (a full year or as many terms as the student plans to attend within a year) prior to enrollment. This amount can be comprised of multiple sources of funds. Contact the Admissions Director for more information and counsel.
Complete any dental and medical care and elective surgery prior to registration.
Upon acceptance, submit an advance tuition deposit, as well as an emergency deposit to be used in case the student unexpectedly needs to return to their country. Amount required will vary depending on student’s financial plan.
NOTE: Due to visa processes, the admissions process for international students usually takes a minimum of three months. Plan to apply early! Applications that are not completed in time for the summer session will be reviewed for admission for the fall quarter.
