During a recent training in Bible evangelism, SETI* students were very excited to learn more about the books of Daniel and Revelation! While the course was underway, Giancarlo held a Daniel and Revelation seminar in the nearby village of Melgaço. Many people attended the seminar and were thrilled to learn the truth. By experience, the students learned how to prepare and hold seminars.
One seminar attendee, Larissa, received an invitation from her father-in-law, but could only come on the last day. Giancarlo was preaching that night about “Unmasking the Antichrist.” Considering that some had not attended his previous meetings, he was concerned that this message could be misinterpreted. Even so, he preached the Word of God powerfully, and the Holy Spirit worked! At the end of the seminar, Larissa approached Giancarlo and said, “In the beginning I was a bit scared and surprised by the message, but as you said, it’s not your words but the Word of God. I would like you to preach at my church, as well. People need to hear the truth. It was such a blessing to come here tonight.” Her words confirmed to Giancarlo that the Holy Spirit was working upon hearts.
As the course came to an end, Iacobi, a student, expressed, “Being at SETI was very uplifting. It renewed my spirit, working the fruits of sanctification upon my heart.”
Graduation was a simple ceremony, but all were delighted to finish such an important phase in their lives.
Right after graduation, Amanda Martins da Silva went back home and Izael Moreira Santos traveled with her to Fortaleza, Ceará to preach the gospel.
While Izael was there he had incredible opportunities to work for God, including ministering in people’s homes, giving seminars at churches, and preaching to the youth. God even gave him ways to minister through construction work!
For Izael, the time spent at SETI was essential for his preparation as a missionary. He says, “The Holy Spirit constantly reminded me about the topics we studied in the biblical evangelism course. In each area, from the classes to the work ethic I developed at SETI, I could see God shaping my character and polishing me to work for Him. I am very grateful to God for all the opportunities He gave me, from studying at SETI to His provisions for this missionary trip.”
“Our schools are to be educating schools and training schools; and if men and women come forth from them fitted in any sense for the missionary field, they must have impressed upon them the greatness of the work, and that practical godliness must be brought into their daily experience, to be fitted for any place of usefulness in our world, or in the church, or in God’s great moral vineyard, now calling for laborers in foreign lands.” Christian Education, p. 46.
This is the goal of SETI: to prepare laborers to work for God wherever they are needed.
We are still working on expanding our facilities. Praise God, all the funds for the new dormitory and future lifestyle center have come in, and the construction is nearing an end. SETI wants to thank you for your support and prayers. It was through your gifts that we were able to finish this project!
Our recent challenge has been the kitchen. Expanding the facilities to receive more students automatically created the need for a new kitchen/ cafeteria since the current one is very small. By faith the construction was started, and by faith it will be finished in the first week of February.
SETI expects great things for 2016! We desire to help as many people as possible to be prepared for that “great day”: “Let every human intelligence who professes the name of Christ testify: ‘The end of all things is at hand; prepare to meet thy God.’ Amos 4:12.” The Colporteur Evangelist, p. 101.
