Our feelings and human reasoning are not trustworthy, and that is why we base our faith on God’s holy Word.

We all know and understand that our faith can and should be based on evidence. We are told:
“God never asks us to believe, without giving sufficient evidence upon which to base our faith. His existence, His character, the truthfulness of His word, are all established by testimony that appeals to our reason; and this testimony is abundant.” — Steps to Christ, p. 105
Our feelings and human reasoning are not trustworthy, and that is why we base our faith on God’s holy Word.
In His wisdom, God also give us evidence through providential leadings and circumstances.
“It is God’s plan to give sufficient evidence of the divine character of His work to convince all who honestly desire to know the truth. But He never removes all opportunity for doubt.” — Selected Messages, vol. 1, p. 72
Gratefully, God can use His word and divine leading not only to confirm us in our doctrinal faith, but also to help guide us in the major decisions we make. As we step out in faith to do a special work for Him, while guiding everything we do by the principles revealed in His word, He then can open and close doors providentially in order that we might better understand how to do His will.
The ministries of both SETI and Purelight continue as they seek to follow God’s word and principles, and observe the doors that open and close for them. Has God been opening or closing doors in your life?
