How did Rossi, a Bulgarian, and Alex, a Russian, get to meet Andrew in Johannesburg, South Africa?
“I’ve been trying to understand prophecy for over four years,” Andrew told Loago during one of their Bible studies. “Now I am happy that these missionaries came to my house.”
Andrew is one of the praise and worship leaders at a Pentecostal church in Georginia, Johannesburg. He was very confused about a lot of things in prophecy before Rossi and Alex came knocking on his door.
“What do you mean ‘second coming?’” He appeared shocked when Rossi mentioned this topic. “Don’t you believe in the rapture?”
Rossi asked Loago to do a Bible study with Andrew on the second coming of Christ. When Loago had finished the study, Andrew was excited.
“I want to know about 666!” he exclaimed. “Not everything, but just give me an idea so that I can continue studying.”
When Rossi saw this enthusiasm, she shared with him Bible Readings for the Home and gave The Great Controversy to his friend. Andrew has been touched by this ministry and has been attending some worship services at the Georginia Seventh-day Adventist Church.
How did Rossi, a Bulgarian, and Alex, a Russian, get to meet Andrew in Johannesburg, South Africa? Both Rossi and Alex are students at TGM (Trainingzentrum für Gesundheitsmission) in Austria, where a very fervent Hartland alumnus, Christian Paul, is ministering as the school leader. They came with nine other students to have Bible classes on Daniel and Revelation at Pure Light Missions. They also came to have a missionary experience in Africa from January 8 to the middle of February. Together with Pure Light Missions staff, they ministered in more than ten churches doing health expos, health presentations, health and Bible outreach training, health nuggets at evangelistic meetings, and door-to-door ministry in three different townships in the South Western Townships (Soweto) of Johannesburg.
“Simdumise, God is indeed wonderful,” rejoiced Chantal, the personal ministries leader at Orlando East Seventh-day Adventist Church. “We baptized 22 souls and 66 have joined baptismal class. Some of these were invited by the missionaries during their door-to-door outreach.”
This testimony came after two weeks of door-to-door evangelism, a health expo, evening health presentations, and an evangelistic series by Randy Skeete. The church was trained in effective ways of doing door-to-door work and how to use health expos for outreach. Church members joined the TGM students and Pure Light staff in the field. Young people from other churches also joined and had blessed experiences.
“The work of the missionaries had a positive impact, and we are forever grateful that you came,” continued Chantal. “The church is growing, and we are faced with the need to equip and nurture these souls.”
God is indeed good and uses very simple means to accomplish much. The coming of the Austrian team has helped raise awareness about the need for missionaries. Many young people have decided to be trained at Pure Light once they finish high school. Some have been encouraged to sponsor students because they see the value of trained missionaries. Phumzile, the cook at Orlando East Church, decided to come for Pure Light training in health and has joined our school.
We could share more things, like the evangelistic series that Loago did in Magaliesburg where 22 people were baptized, or the one Simdumise did where 11 went through the watery grave. Then there was the Present Truth Camp where we did practical training in hydrotherapy, massage, cooking, how to study the Bible, and prayer. From there, four young people have joined our first Pure Light Missions class for the 2015 academic year. God had been good and blessed us with eight students and another one still working on his visa.
Our goal of starting in January has been met, and we praise the Lord for that. The young men are occupying the house at the farm. We have had to make temporary arrangements for housing the ladies in a small town nearby. Things are working well, but we would love to have everyone at the farm so that things can run more fluidly. We need all the support we can get in order to put up more buildings for classes, the ladies’ dorms, practical training rooms, and the lifestyle center.
The work is large, but the laborers are few. We need to have all these facilities in order to accommodate more students and start a lifestyle center. We need your partnership and prayers in order to move forward with the Lord to finish this work.
Your hearty gifts will help us fulfill God’s call for Pure Light. Will you join the Lord in the mighty work that He is doing here?
