To develop the capacity of the soil requires thought and intelligence. Not only will it develop muscle, but capability for study, because the action of brain and muscle is equalized. We should so train the youth that they will love to work upon the land, and delight in improving it. The hope of advancing the cause of God in this country is in creating a new moral taste in love of work, which will transform mind and character. For this reason the work of agriculture at Hartland is an important part of the whole program of educating young people.
The management of the farm has been led by Esteban Cabrera, originally from Cuba, who loves the work of the ground and toils
hand to hand with the students combining the experience of a farmer with the energy of young people. We seek to restore agriculture to its primary dignity in the eyes of men.
